Idea of Love.

Recently I attended my 5th wedding this year which, for me, is an exhausting amount of love fests to attend. Each one had their very own vibe and were truly something specific to the couple. All of the decisions they settled on were honestly perfect for who they are. Although they all did something different, they carried the same overwhelming feeling of love.

I’ve never seen so much love in someone’s presence before this year. It’s truly wild to see this pair glowing with love for each other… it’s inspiring, really. This idea of finding your best friend in the whole world and loving them more than anything, I think that’s a lovely idea.

I remember when one of my closest friends found his love he told me, “All I can say is don’t settle!” I think of these words often, more often than necessary to be honest. Even outside of the subject of love, this simple advice is an amazing one to keep. There are so many places we come across in life where we could just ‘give up’ in a way, and settle for something that we secretly know will not turn out well. Why do we do that? Does it stem back to being lazy? Or maybe it’s simply humans trying to force happiness on ourselves by putting us in a situation that ‘should’ make us feel love

It’s good for us to observe something through the eyes of honesty. It’s important to be realistic, yet not pessimistic, even though at times the line can be completely unclear. If you settle for something or someone that you know isn’t good for you, then what are you doing?

What am I doing?

When my friend gave me that advice, I couldn’t help but smile for his happiness. Each of my friends who have found their special person are just beaming with love, and that makes me so insanely happy for them. They found it, that thing most people dream of finding…

I imagine when you find that type of love in someone it’s similar to seeing a golden sunset that tints the room with peace. The vibe of hot chocolate by the fire on a snowy day… even a hot blanket fresh out of the dryer. Something so safe and glorious to cradle your heart even when everything outside seems to be a constant storm, here you have this unfading haven and it’s precious.
